Don't pay $20 to park downtown. We just got word that the Power and Light District is offering $6 valet parking at two locations. Can't beat that price unless your mom is dropping you off and picking you up!

No Shuttle This Weekend

FOX 4 was just contacted by the KCMO Dept of Public Works to clarify that there will not be a shuttle from Kemper Arena this weekend.  The city believes that there will be plenty of parking downtown this weekend.

So, FYI - no shuttle from Kemper Arena to the Power and Light District this weekend.

A Big Night At The Power and Light District!

It was a big night for the Power and Light District as the Mens Big 12 Tourney kicked off on Thursday night!  FOX 4 was there checking out the action and warning you about a parking scam!

Parking Woes

Oh, how I want to love the Power and Light District!  I want to be a patron at every restaurant, I want to go bowling at the new bowling alley, I want Omaha to stop taking all the good concerts and I want to see them at the Sprint Center.

I want all these things, but apparently the one thing I want is even more impossible than getting Radiohead to play in Kansas City: one compact car-sized parking spot.

Parking Harder To Find Than Tickets At Big 12 Tourney

The start of the Big 12 Mens Basketball Tournament provides the first major test for a revitalized downtown.

The Sprint Center has never had a daytime event during the work week and city leaders are concerned about how downtown will handle 20,000 basketball fans alongside thousands more downtown workers.

On Wednesday afternoon, myfoxkc.com will be snapping pics at the public practice sessions at the Sprint Center! If you find us, have us take your photo! Here is today's practice schedule:

• 12:45 - 1:25 p.m. #8 Texas Tech

Also, road closures go into effect tonight at 7 p.m.! Look at our interactive Google map on the right to see which roads will be shut down until Sunday. The road closures are the orange areas on the map.

Parking-Street Closures-Women's Ticket Information

Guests participating in Big 12 festivities should note that Grand Boulevard from 13th Street to 14th Street will be closed beginning on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and will reopen on Sunday evening at 11 p.m.

In addition, 14th Street from Oak Street to Walnut Street will be closed, transforming into a Road to Glory interactive fan experience. All-session tickets for the 2008 Phillips 66 Women's Basketball Championships are still available for $81 and $56 plus applicable service fees.

The City of Kansas City will provide shuttle for Big 12 parking from Lot B at Kemper Arena to 13th and McGee on March 13-14 for the Phillips 66 Big 12 Men's & Women's Basketball Championships. Shuttles will operate from 8:30 a.m.- 2 a.m. This service will provide a parking alternative during the busy event days and help reduce traffic congestion downtown.

Parking in Lot B will cost $10 per day. Fans that park in Lot B at Kemper Arena and present a Lot B parking receipt to shuttle drivers will receive shuttle service for up to four people at no additional charge. Others may ride the shuttle for $2 per trip. The shuttle will drop-off riders at 13th and McGee streets. A map indicating the shuttle route and parking location is attached.

The City of Kansas City, Mo. has scheduled shuttle service between Sprint Center and Lot B at Kemper Arena on March 13-14 for the Phillips 66 Big 12 Men's & Women's Basketball Championships. The shuttles will operate between 8:30 a.m. and 2 a.m.

This service will provide a parking option during the busiest days of the events and will help reduce traffic congestion near the Sprint Center.

Those who park in Lot B at Kemper Arena and present a Lot B parking Receipt to shuttle drivers will receive shuttle service for up to four people at no additional charge.
