People are standing in long lines to get into popular hot spots in the Power & Light District, but not everyone is being allowed inside.
The downtown dress code isn't sitting well with some members of the community, including activist Alonzo Washingon.
"I think that it sends out a message to a particular group of people that you're not welcome," Washington said. "Clothing does not determine who's going to commit a crime," Washington told FOX 4.
The Cordish Company says the dress code isn't about targeting certain population groups.
"The code of conduct is actually no loitering, no panhandling. It is to make sure that people have a fun and safe environment to celebrate," Jon Stephens, P&L District, said.
FOX 4's Paul Herdtner has more on the controversial clothing rules.
