Power & Light businesses were seeing green days before St. Paddy's. As FOX 4's Dave Dunn reports, cash and booze were flowing freely downtown:
The Big 12 Tournament provided big business for the Power & Light District. The $850 million project saw thousands of people come through over the weekend, and it left business owners in a good mood.
"We're all collectively high-fiving down here," Brian Phillips, McFadden's Sports Saloon, said.
McFadden's was first to open in the Power & Light District last fall. Phillips said business from the tournament exceeded expectations for all 14 bars and restaurants that opened for Big 12 weekend.
KU beat Texas to win the Big 12 Championship and secure a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
We had a myfoxkc.com blogger inside the Sprint Center for the big win. She shot some great pictures after the game was over. So, if you missed the excitement - feel like you were there by checking out our photos.
Don't get too excited yet, Kansans, but Kansas and Kansas State could face off one more time... This time in the Elite 8 in Detroit.
Should both teams make it to the regional finals, the Motor City is in for a Sunflower State showdown.
Do you think both teams will reach Detroit?
Former Kansas City Mayor Kay Barnes had an answer for everything as she gave us a tour of the Power and Light District she helped create. She was positive about the Sprint Center not having a permanent tenant yet, and about the district still only being half done.

It's halftime and so far the game is an even match-up. One statistic that stands out is both teams' 3-point shooting. Kansas is 9-15 and Texas is 8/11 from behind the arc.
Brandon Rush and Mario Chalmers combined are shooting 69 percent from the 3-point line and D.J. Augustin is 4-4. Geez!
I'm currently in the basement of the Sprint Center in the media work room. Tip off is in a little over a half hour, and the atmosphere is starting to buzz. The teams are on the court warming up, but the Kansas Pep Band did some warming up, too - watch the video below!
Check back with us at half time to get some behind-the-scenes coverage of the Big 12 Men's Championship!
Congratulations to the Texas A&M women! They won their first Big 12 Championship Title on Saturday night at Municipal Auditorium.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- A'Quonesia Franklin had 19 points and hit four free throws in the final 22 seconds, helping No. 11 Texas A&M hold off No. 18 Oklahoma State 64-59 Saturday night to win its first Big 12 tournament championship.
Texas A&M (26-7) led most of the second half, but had to withstand a furious Oklahoma State rally in the closing minutes.
Here is what's up for the final day of the Big 12 Tournament downtown:
